Becoming a Soulful Entrepreneur
Becoming a Soulful Entrepreneur
How to start a business that makes you happy
To my fellow students in life,
How do we become a Soulful Entrepreneur?
If you’ve ever felt excited about running your own business, bringing a new idea to life, or creating more empowered freedom – you my friend, have felt the call to entrepreneurship.
Becoming an entrepreneur might be a long journey that starts with many different kinds of professional status. I spent 20 years as a university professor: teaching, doing therapy with clients, writing books and articles – the classic academic experience – and I felt deeply satisfied by it all. And then, at some point, something woke up within me – it felt as if my work was not as accurate as it used to be. Academia started to feel too narrow in its reach – I wanted to get “out there” into the real world and offer my teaching. That’s when I started the School of Positive Transformation, becoming an entrepreneur.
When I started, I didn’t even call myself an entrepreneur – I just “played” with the idea of a school, explored the potential adventure. The number of students then started growing from a few hundred to a few thousand, I started hiring more people to do the work with me, and suddenly I found myself with a full-on, super-growing business. I’m an entrepreneur. My heart is smiling with joy as I write this paragraph.
Why do I feel joy? Because I’m implementing a dream that I felt deep within me. There’s nothing more satisfying than giving life to that which calls you from your heart. And there’s another reason for this joy: autonomy was always important to me. I wanted to choose my own path. Make my own decisions. I felt held back by managers who did not share my vision. Becoming an entrepreneur meant that I don’t have to ask for anyone’s permission anymore: my vision will now become my reality – whether it fails or succeeds, it doesn’t matter – because either way, it’s an authentic expression of myself.
While this is an exciting prospect, things can feel daunting and seemingly impossible when you start your entrepreneurship journey. That’s ok, I would guess that 99% of all entrepreneurs felt this way at one point or another.
Self-motivation should practically be a prerequisite for starting your own business. Approaching this journey with genuine curiosity and a deep desire to continue learning will help you stay accurately on your path. I know this from experience! Please don’t be afraid to pivot: if something doesn’t quite land, try another idea, change something again, and keep moving forward. Adapt and experiment until you land on an offering that lights you up and helps your target market.
Trust in your innate power to create your own reality, and know that you are supported on this journey. Through every challenge, life teaches you resilience and shows you the path of least resistance – not shutting your dream down. Remember this when things feel hard!
Ultimately, being an entrepreneur requires deep trust in yourself and your abilities. Patience, motivation, and determination will help you bring your ideas to life, and change the world for the better along the way.
Listen to your inner voice, feel the call, and take a leap of faith. Now you’re on your way, and I can’t wait to see what you bring to the world.
Yours in curiosity and love,
itai
