Therapy for Meaning, Purpose, and Life Direction

With Dr. Itai Ivtzan

Psychotherapist | Professor | Meaning & Purpose Specialist

Many people reach a point in life when they begin asking deeper questions:

What truly matters to me?
Am I on the right path?
What should the next chapter of my life look like?

You may feel stuck, uncertain about your future, disconnected from your work or life direction, or searching for a deeper sense of meaning and purpose.

Therapy offers a space to explore these questions thoughtfully and honestly, helping you gain clarity and discover what feels meaningful and right for you.

With more than 20 years of psychotherapy experience and over 4,000 hours of client therapy work, I support people in navigating life transitions, clarifying what truly matters to them, and discovering a path that feels meaningful and aligned with who they are.

A Space to Explore Meaning, Purpose, and Direction

In my work as a therapist, I often meet people who feel that something in their life needs to change.

Sometimes this feeling appears during a life transition.
Sometimes it emerges after years of following a path that no longer feels right.
And sometimes it arises as a quiet but persistent question about meaning and purpose.

Together, we create a space where these questions can be explored openly and thoughtfully.

Rather than rushing toward quick answers, therapy allows us to slow down, reflect, and clarify what truly matters to you.

My Approach

My therapeutic approach combines psychological depth with mindfulness, awareness, and practical clarity.

I draw on my background in psychotherapy, mindfulness, compassion, and meaning-centered approaches to help clients explore their inner world while also gaining insight into the direction they wish to move toward.

In our work together, we may explore questions such as:

• What gives your life meaning?
• What values truly guide your decisions?
• What might the next stage of your life look like?
• What is preventing you from moving toward the life you want?

Therapy is not about imposing answers.
It is about creating the conditions in which your own insight and clarity can emerge.

Areas I Often Work With

People seek therapy for many different reasons. In my practice, I frequently support clients who are experiencing:

• Questions about meaning, purpose, and life direction
• Major life transitions or turning points
• Feeling stuck in work, relationships, or personal life
• Disconnection from values or personal authenticity
• Uncertainty about the future
• Burnout or loss of motivation
• A desire for deeper self-understanding

Therapy can help transform confusion into clarity and uncertainty into a sense of direction.

About Me

I am a psychotherapist with more than 20 years of experience supporting individuals in their personal and psychological development.

Over the years I have completed more than 4,000 hours of client therapy work. I also supervise therapists and have spent many years teaching and lecturing in psychotherapy-related master’s programs in different universities.

I previously served as a professor at Naropa University in Colorado and at the University of East London, where I taught courses that train and certify future psychotherapists.

Alongside my clinical work, I have spent many years researching meaning, purpose, mindfulness, and wellbeing within the field of psychology. This academic background informs my therapeutic work while always remaining grounded in the lived experience of each individual client.

Supporting my therapy clients is deeply fulfilling for me, and I value creating a space where clarity, insight, and growth can unfold.

Sessions are offered online or in-person (Austin, Texas).

Individual therapy sessions are $120 per 50-minute session.
Some clients come for a small number of sessions focused on a specific life question or transition, while others choose to engage in longer-term therapeutic work.
